On October 26, 2024, SingPop brought together music enthusiasts, aspiring producers, and industry professionals at the Lifelong Learning Institute in Singapore for “The Art of Hit-Making: Pop Music Secrets with Phil Schwan & AZODi.”

SingPop partnered with Warner Music Singapore to provide emerging artists with a direct pathway to grow their audience and distribute their music on digital platforms.

 

This collaboration not only expanded the reach of these artists but also facilitated networking opportunities with producers, arrangers, and industry professionals they had not previously worked with. The collaborative approach fostered creative decision-making and established a robust quality control process, ensuring that the music produced was of high caliber.

The Ins & Outs of AR with Tat Tong

Singpop recently hosted an insightful Zoom session featuring Singaporean music producer and songwriter Tat Tong , who shared his expertise on the pivotal role of Artiste & Repertoire (A&R) in the music industry. Known for collaborations with global stars like Christina Aguilera , Katy Perry , and Celine Dion , Tat brought deep industry knowledge to the conversation.

 

Tat addressed the growing trend of independent musicians, encouraging them to seek mentorship, collaborate strategically, and build a strong portfolio before approaching industry professionals. He stressed that while labels aren’t necessary for creating great music,

having a clear strategy is essential for success.

Throughout the session, Tat offered practical advice for emerging musicians, urging them to stay true to their artistic identity, refine their craft, and build meaningful relationships within the industry. He reminded attendees that setbacks are inevitable but can be turned into opportunities for growth.
