George Hwang is an IP/IT and Media lawyer with more than 15 years of experience. He has worked in various countries, including Hong Kong, Bulgaria, Belgium and the Bahamas. He has been the General Manager of a music publishing company holding one of the largest catalogues in Asia in Hong Kong in the 1990s. As a media lawyer, George has been involved in a landmark Court of Appeal case defending a journalist’s right to the confidentiality of sources, and defending a blogger sued by the prime minister for defamation. He is the current chair of the Copyright Committee, Licensing Executives Society International, a Content Partner with Lexis Practical Guidance, IP/IT: M&A and Finance, and the author of “Online Music Market and Main Business Models in Asia” for the World Intellectual Property Organisation.
